4DIFY has officially completed its first 3D-printed home, marking a major milestone not just for our team, but for how housing can be built in California.
This home represents more than a finished structure. It’s proof that advanced construction technology can move from concept to completion, on real land, under real regulations, with real people ready to live in it.
From Vision to Reality
Bringing this first home to completion required far more than a printer and a plan. It meant navigating permitting, engineering, materials, logistics, and on-site execution, while introducing a construction method that challenges the status quo.
Every phase came with questions:
- Can this technology meet California building standards?
- Can it integrate with traditional trades and inspections?
- Can it deliver quality, durability, and speed, at the same time?
This first home answers those questions with confidence.
Why This Home Matters
Housing affordability continues to be one of the most pressing challenges facing communities across California and the country. Traditional construction methods are slow, labor-intensive, and increasingly expensive.
3D printing changes the equation.
By automating structural construction and reducing material waste, 3D-printed homes have the potential to:
- Shorten build timelines
- Lower construction costs
- Reduce dependency on scarce labor
- Deliver consistent, high-quality structures
Built for Safety, Durability, and Cost Savings
One of the most important advantages of 3D-printed construction is the performance and resilience of the structure itself.
The primary structure of this home is made from a concrete-based material, which offers inherent benefits, including:
- Fire resistance – concrete is non-combustible, providing improved safety in wildfire-prone areas.
- Pest resistance – solid printed walls are not susceptible to termites or other wood-destroying pests.
- Mold and moisture resistance – concrete does not provide an organic food source for mold, supporting healthier indoor conditions when properly detailed.
- Lower home insurance costs – because of the enhanced durability and reduced risk from fire, pests, and mold, we have proof that insurance premiums for these homes can be lower than comparable traditional homes.
What Comes Next
Completing our first home is a milestone, but it’s not the finish line.
We are already preparing to print additional homes on the same site, applying what we’ve learned to improve efficiency, coordination, and speed. Each build strengthens our process and brings us closer to scalable, repeatable deployment.
Beyond this site, 4DIFY is actively working with developers, municipalities, and partners who share our goal: delivering housing faster, more efficiently, and more affordably, without sacrificing quality or safety.
